West Palm Beach Fire Station #4 Earns Environmental Design Certification

The station serves the Grandview Heights, Pineapple Park, Flamingo Park, and El Cid neighborhoods.

The City of West Palm Beach has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for the construction of Fire Station #4. Located at 1718 Parker Avenue, Fire Station #4 serves the Grandview Heights, Pineapple Park, Flamingo Park, and El Cid neighborhoods.

Fire Station #4

A globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership, the LEED certification validates the station’s green, energy efficient design, sustainable features, and construction which incorporated the newest technologies.

“The LEED certificate recognizes that this fire station was built with an eye toward cost-saving, green technologies,” said Kevin Volbrecht, Director of the City’s Engineering Services Department. “These technologies allowed us to create a better indoor environment for our first responders, reduce indoor pollutants and increase access to natural daylight.”

Construction on Fire Station #4 commenced in August 2017. The station was put into service in November 2018 and replaced a fire station that was constructed in 1961.
