36 Tampa Bay Employees Recognized for Volunteer Service

Tampa Bay AT&T employees are being honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award for exceptional commitment to community service.

In Tampa Bay, dozens of Tampa Bay AT&T employees are being honored with the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for exceptional commitment to community service. The PVSA gives U.S. Presidential recognition to individuals who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteerism throughout the year.

In 2015, AT&T volunteers led a Trinity Boy Scout troop, coached a Tampa middle school robotics team, volunteered for Tampa’s chapter of Out & Equal and helped maintain animal habitats at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, among many other AT&T employee volunteer activities.

Thirty-six local AT&T employees are among 4,527 AT&T employee awardees nationwide to receive the honor. There are 3 levels of awards:

· Gold PVSA = 500+ hours of volunteer service in a year;

· Silver PVSA = 250-499 hours of volunteer service in a year;

· Bronze PVSA = 100-249 hours of volunteer service in a year.

The PVSA is a way to inspire others to make volunteerism a central part of their lives. Recipients at the three levels included:

· Gold PVSA = 500+ hours of volunteer service in a year:

Jurek Czyzowski, Stephen P. Dillon, Andrew Hall, Shin-Yi Henderson, Angela Kent.

· Silver PVSA = 250-499 hours of volunteer service in a year:
Michael Baker, Dorothy Brown, James Thielen

· Bronze PVSA = 100-249 hours of volunteer service in a year:
Michelle Barry, Richard Borden Jr., Carrie Burchett, Sabrina Caras, Michael J. Clarke, Daphne Dilbert, Michael W. Dupre, Keating Floyd, Timothy Hancock, Nancy Jones, Tamie Lanigan, Rob Lavielle, Anthony Librera, Scott McKenney, Howard Petree, Karl E. Greeson, Jerome M. Van Gurp, John Wright, Jacquelyn Yoas,

“The employees receiving the PVSA award are improving our community through their selfless acts every day – whether it’s mentoring students, cleaning up our parks or helping feed those who are hungry,” said Joe York, president – AT&T Florida. “We would like to congratulate these employees and hope their stories inspire others as much as they inspire us.”

Over time, these moments of giving can add up to millions of service hours. AT&T employees and retirees volunteered more than 5.4 million hours in 2015 alone.

PVSA is an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service and is administered by Points of Light. With a shared mission of inspiring more to answer the call to service, PVSA celebrates the impact we can all make in bettering our communities and our world.
