5 apps to help you keep Breast Cancer resolutions year-round

Five apps to put helpful breast cancer information at women's fingertips year-round.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here and pink ribbons abound as reminders of the disease. But once the month is over, the resolutions to do monthly self-exams, eat healthier or stay current with important wellness issues can be forgotten.

Fortunately, help is as close as your mobile device. Below is a list of breast cancer apps that put helpful information at women’s fingertips year-round.

B4BC – (Android, iOS – Free) – The Boarding for Breast Cancer app lets you set a monthly breast self-exam reminder and teaches you how to perform your own breast self-exam, one of the most effective means for early detection of breast cancer. The app also provides wellness content.

Your Man Reminder – (Android, iOS – Free) – If a normal calendar alert isn’t enough to motivate you to do your monthly breast self-exam, this app likely will! The Your Man Reminder features include video messages from hunky men reminding you to show your breasts some TLC; special tips that can help you reduce your breast cancer risk; a “signs and symptoms” tab to hone in on the importance of early detection; Man-O-Grams, personalized messages from head-turning men, that you can sent to friends to help them stay on top of their her breast health; and a variety of scheduling options for breast self-exams and doctor appointments.

BreastAware – (Android, iOS – Free) – The BreastAware app provides an easy way to understand how to become more breast aware and aware of lifestyle choices that can increase or decrease your risk of breast cancer. The app provides a number of videos that offer advice on screening and breast self-exams.

Breast Cancer Diagnonsis Guide – (iOS – FREE) – This app includes a glossary of terms, medical illustrations, helpful explanations, and personalized research articles. The app walks you through your breast cancer pathology report and other diagnostic tests, one step at a time. You can add your diagnosis information for easy reference and receive relevant articles featuring the latest research and news about breast cancer.

Breast Cancer: Beyond the Shock – (iOS – Free) – This app is a resource for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, a place for their loved ones to gain a better understanding of the disease, and a tool for doctors to share information.
