Big Snook Reportedly Sneaking Around Bridges
A local tackle shop employee says he's heard reports of some big snook around local bridges, but there are not many

John Tomlinson from Cody's Bait & Tackle said he received a report this week from a man who caught a 46-inch, 39-pound snook from under the Double Branch Bridge. The man also reported catching a 42-inch redfish.
“There's some real big fish around that bridge,” Tomlinson said.
Capt. Jason Prieto of Steady Action Fishing Charters, meanwhile, said trout fishing has been on fire on grass flats and are hitting shrimp and various artificials. There also continue to be some smaller redfish between 13-15 inches caught on shrimp around oyster bars and off points.

He added some sheepshead to about six pounds are available on the artificial reefs and ledges in the middle of Old Tampa Bay.
As far as the report of big snook, Prieto said, “There has been some bigger snook in the area, but not a lot.”

Prieto said there are a lot of glass minnows scattered throughout the bay. He suspects that with the coming of the new moon some bigger bait will move in, along with higher numbers of Spanish mackerel.
