Beauty & Banter: Wallet Friendly Summer Must Haves to Keep Hair Healthy

Tips and Tricks for Repairing Your Hair in the Upcoming Hot and Humid Months

When the temperatures become scorching in the summertime, it's imperative that I alter my hair care routine. Between the sun, salt water, swimming, and the constant need for having my hair up because it’s so warm I can’t stand it otherwise, my hair takes a beating.  I use a few different products to keep my mane glossy and shiny and I thought why not share?

Leave in Conditioner- Nexxus Headress Volumizing Leave-In Conditioner $9

This volumizing leave in puts a UV barrier over my damp hair and I comb through to prevent breakage while styling. My hair stylist Elena the owner of Bellanova Salon in Westchase recommended that I use a leave in conditioner to help my hair color last longer, repair, and keep hair healthy in between cuts and colors. I didn’t realize how much a leave in made a difference, but now that I know I will continue to use it.

Deep Hydrating Conditioners- Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Hydrating Keratin Masque $7.99 and Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner $7.99

In the warm weather months my hair become extremely dry and the only way to ensure it stay hydrated is to use a deep conditioner once or twice a week depending on how badly I have treated it during that week.  These two conditioners do different things for my hair, but the end result is shiny, soft, very manageable hair. These can be found at Ulta.com

Dry Shampoo-Psssssst -Instant Dry Shampoo Spray-$5.99 or John Frieda Luxurious Volume Anytime Volume Refresher $5.99

I don’t shampoo my hair everyday because it can be drying, and let’s face it…it saves me time. The blow drying alone takes 20 minutes when I use the round brush. So no…I do not wash my hair every day, but I mix up my hair styles with a ponytail or a topknot in between. I use the dry shampoo to absorb any oils in my hair the volumizing refresher to give it a lift.

Garnier Fructis Style- Triple Nutrition Bi-Phase Treatment Spray $4.50

This product has Shea butter, olive, avocado, and blackcurrant oils which nourish and protect hair. I use a light mist of this product very sparingly on my damp hair just to give it sheen before I blow dry and also just on the ends of my hair in between shampoos. This product isn’t for the roots because it has oils and will just make hair weighed down and greasy.

What kind of tips, trick or products do you use to keep hair healthy in the Florida heat? I would love to know!

Until Next Time,

Alexis
