Beauty & Banter: What to Take on Your Next Flight

Everything Thing You Need to Know to be Comfortable and Chic on Your Next Jet Set

These last few weeks I have been writing about makeup, hair, and what to wear. But we know that summer is a season of travel and vacations with family and friends. Sometimes what to wear and bring while you are traveling to your much anticipated destination is and can be quite tricky. Hopefully these tips will help with the trip and leave you with less turbulence on your flight.

1. Wear Comfortable Clothes- Being comfortable doesn't mean lacking style, in fact it can be effortlessly easy. I like to travel in jeans that have some stretch to them, which helps while sitting for hours at a time. Adding a relaxed and slightly fitted tee with a design from The Gap can be instantly fashionable. I prefer plain tee with a bright colored scarf like this one from JCrew, which can double as a blanket or cover up on the flight when the air can be cool.

2. Shoes Should Be Easily Removed- There is nothing worse than fumbling with your shoes at airport security. I prefer shoes that can slip off easily and put back on quickly. I also don't like my feet feeling constricted during a long flight, so sandals are my best bet. There are plenty of stylish options from ALDO.

3. Keep Hair Out of The Way- If your hair is long, the last thing you want to mess with is your hair during traveling. A ponytail and topknot will be in in the way of resting your head on the back of the seat during the flight. I have tried a low pony tail which is easy and stylish. In addition I find if I still want my hair down I just clip or pin the front back away from my face. Hair can get limp and lifeless while flying so be sure keep whatever hairstyle you choose easy and not too time consuming. To add a little lift back into your hair after your flight add a volumizing root lifter dry shampoo to give back the bounce. Try:John Frieda Luxurious Volume Anytime Volume Refresher $6

4. Feel Refreshed During and After Your Flight- I try not to wear a lot of makeup during traveling, but I feel less pulled together if I don't. Good news is...you don't have to wear a lot of products to feel slightly glamourous while flying. A moisturizer is imperative while traveling because the air can be so drying. I favor the ones from Olay. I like to use BareMinerals face powder, which allows my skin to breath and gives my face a flawless finish. A few coats of mascara and a moisture rich lip gloss and I am ready to go! I usually reapply as we get closer to landing so I feel refreshed when I get to my destination.

5. Snacks, Snacks, Snacks- I can not stress this enough...please do not eat the food on the airplane. The snacks they provide are high in carbohydrates, sodium, and not to mention have no nutritional benefits at all. I like to bring healthy snacks like almonds, peanuts, fresh veggies, carrots, peppers, cucumbers, and any fresh fruit. Oranges, grapes, melons all have water in them, which help keep you hydrated. Make sure to also drink plenty of water while traveling to avoid dehydration and bloating.

Hope everyone has safe travels and these tips come in handy! Let me know if you have any other tips that you use. Thank you for reading!

Until Next Time,

Alexis
