Spa Simple: 5 Tips To Take the Sting Out of Waxing

5 tips to help take the sting out of waxing.

Let’s be honest. We do a lot in the name of beauty and enduring the discomfort of waxing is one of them. Here are 5 tips to help take the sting out of waxing:

1.  Skip the astringent.  For facial waxing services, don’t apply toner prior to your appointment. These tighten the pores, making a firmer grip on the hair follicle.

2.  Take a Tums.  Antacids reduce acidity and sensitivity in your system. This helps reduce the pain and redness after a wax.

3.  Exfoliate.  Before your waxing appointment, take some time to exfoliate after a shower, making the hair softer and opening the pores.

4.  Numb it.  30-45 minutes prior to your wax, try a topical gel like Relax & Wax “No-Scream Cream.” These products numb the area.

5.  Take a pill.  Take an aspirin or ibuprofen about 30 - 45 minutes before your wax.

It's best to leave the waxing to the pros. Find a licensed, experienced esthetician, like those at The Body Bar or Venus & Mars Day Spa. They will know the wax best-suited for the hair as well as evaluating if you’re even a candidate for waxing. You’ll be glad you did!
