Time for another Westhchase Tweetup!

Tweetups are great fun. We need to organize another Westchase Tweetup!

As my friend Jim Alexander likes to say, "Social media without being social is just media." And that is why as much as we like the platforms of Twitter and Facebook and now Google+ (let me know if you still need an invite) we are always looking for a reason to get together, be social, and to use these tools in real life.

Whatever you call them meetups, tweetups, gatherings, get-togethers or old-fashioned parties are becoming more and more popular for the Social Media Scene. They are fun, unique, and offer an opportunity for business networking with people who have similar interests yet different careers and occupation. And there are usually free food and drinks.:)

There have been some large-scale fun social media events recently. I helped Dali Museum organize a very successful tweetup. TBO.com has staged several real-life get togethers called TBO Tweetups. For the last two years we've had social media day meetups thave been very successful. And let's not forget the local Foursquare Day parties.

In 2009, I held the first Westchase Tweetup and it was a great success! It brought about 50 people from Westchase and other areas to Westpark Village to get together and have some fun. They started at my office and then moved to Bellissimo restaurant for some Italian food and wine. It was really fun opportunity to meet people that you typically only with online and everybody who participated have a good time.

I'd say it is high time for another Westchase Tweetup! Who wants to host one? I'm sure that once the word gets out, it will be super-successful. We'll use Westchase Patch and other networks to spread the word! If you know of a Westchase meet up down please pop me a line in case I somehow didn't hear about it.  I'll make sure I do my best to get the word out.
