Web 2.0 is a 2-Way Street!
Westchase Patch is a great example of Web 2.0. So what would you like to see in a social media blog?

By 2011, most people use the internet in some way. Most businesses (whether they be small or large) understand that they need to have some form of representation on the web. Most companies, be they service or retail, have some kind of webpage. This could be a high-priced, custom-designed webpage with lots of dynamic features or it could be a very simple standalone webpage. Or it could be anywhere in between.
I have been building and maintaining webpages for almost 20 years and they have played and increasingly important role in how I get information. However, this is basically a one way path of communication. People put information that they want to share with the world. Period.
Social media such as blogs and Twitter and Facebook and other applications take this one-way flow of information and it make it two-way flow information. All of this together is called web 2.0 and it is what is truly changing how people communicate. It is not necessarily which application you use that is important, but simply the fact that you are able to both talk and listen that makes the difference.
From the very beginning when Westchase Patch came online, I felt that it would be successful because it was very much a web 2.0 website. If you notice all of the articles can have comments and people can upload pictures and videos regarding their their interest in the story. This very blog is an example of the two-way communication that Westchase Patch encourages.
So, what would you like to see in this blog about social media? Feel free to ask questions, leave comments, make corrections, and give us suggestions as to what you would like. I know for a fact that Westchase has very many dynamic residents and businesses and I am excited to hear the feedback!
