Car Crashes into Town 'N Country Home

The single-car accident has sent two people to the hospital while leaving behind an estimated $5,000 in damage to a home.

A Countryway couple has been taken to the hospital while another family deals with wreckage to their home following a single-car crash Monday, March 25.

The accident happened at 8903 Shandwick Court, near West Waters Avenue, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred as Angus McArthur, 83, of the Countryway area was driving his 1999 Mercury eastbound on Waters Avenue when he lost control. McArthur’s car β€œleft the roadway, went through a wooden privacy fence and struck a house,” a media release from the sheriff’s office said.

McArthur and his wife Charlotte, 86, were taken to St. Joseph’s hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office estimates $5,000 damage to the home and its fence. Fire rescue says Hillsborough County Code Enforcement and the American Red Cross are both responding to help residents of the home.
