Child Killed In Parking Lot Crash
The accident happened Thursday morning at the Preserve at Mobbly Bay apartments.

TAMPA, FL — A 12-year-old boy is dead following a Thursday morning accident in his apartment complex parking lot.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Leonard Pineda, a Farnell Middle School student, was running through the Preserve at Mobbly Bay apartment complex to catch his bus around 8:23 a.m. As he was running, he crossed the path of a 2007 Ford Expedition driven by Dynisha Walker Namauleg, 32, the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to the media.
Pineda was struck by the front of the Expedition and knocked to the ground. The child struck his head on the pavement, the sheriff’s office said.

Pineda was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he later died.
Deputies say drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation remains active.
