Congratulations to Our Patch Athlete of the Week

This week Westchase Patch sat down with two sisters that are making an impact in multiple sports.

De’Andre and Dominique Williams burn up the track at Sickles High School. They also perform on the pitch for the girls soccer team.

Both girls are passionate about soccer and view it as their primary team sport despite playing basketball and flag football. Both girls have strict accountability when it comes to academics.

“My mom took us off the soccer team last year because we got a ‘B’,” said Dominique.

“B’s” are unacceptable for mom, so the girls got their act together and got back on the soccer team to help out for districts.

The girls are rising stars on the track as well.

How did you get started in track and field?

De’Andre: My mom was big into track when she was in high school. She was a 400m runner. Farnell Middle School is where I started, I ran the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Dominique: Watching my big sister in middle school.

What is your favorite thing about track and field?

Dominique: I really like the relays; they’re so competitive. Also, all the cool people you meet, the athletic camaraderie.

De’Andre: The adrenaline rush, the competition. It’s also a great way to stay in shape for soccer.

What is the toughest thing about track and field?

De’Andre: The conditioning. Sprints on the track really tire you out.

Dominique: Losing.

De’Andre & Dominique: We’d like to go to Harvard.

What is your current GPA?

De’Andre: 4.95

Dominique: 4.4

Extracurricular Activities?

Dominique: I’m involved with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). We focus on this event called, “Night of Worship” where we organize a praise and worship event at local high schools.
