Dump Truck Overturns, Spilling Tons Of Granite Onto Hillsborough

WESTCHASE, FL -- Hillsborough Avenue at Double Branch Road was closed for several hours Friday, Jan. 18, when a dump truck overturned, spilling several tons of granite onto the road.

Around 2 p.m., a Chevrolet van driven by Daniel Thomas Harsh, 72 of Tampa was traveling east on Hillsborough Avenue approaching Double Brandon Road just as a dump truck driven by Jose Siere Aguilera, 42, of Tampa was heading west, turning onto Double Branch with a flashing left turn arrow.

The two vehicles collided and the truck overturned, spilling its load of granite.

Both men were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries.
