recently celebrated one year of business  in Westchase. Recently, Patch sat down with the store's owner, Cammie Cunningham.

Patch: Why did you choose this location? 

Cunningham: We chose this location because there isn't another store like ours in the area, and we felt that the Westchase was a great area for families and for businesses to thrive.

Patch: Can you tell us about the concept behind Jem’s Natural Living? 

Cunningham: We wanted to open a store that could offer environmentally friendly and eco-conscious products to the community. Most people only think of food when they think of these type of products, but we wanted to show that many products can be purchased that are both eco-conscious and affordable.

Patch: What is your background/knowledge of eco-friendly products and lifestyle?

Cunningham: We have done extensive research into which companies offer the best products on the market and make sure those are the companies we do business with. We also try and work with as many local companies as possible.

Patch: What are you most popular items amongst Westchase residents?

Cunningham: Many Westchase residents are looking to go green with their lifestyle choices. Our popular items are herbal supplements, food, skin care items, toys, make-up and Himalayan Salt Lamps sell really well to our Westchase clientele.

Patch: Can you tell us more about the Himalayan Salt Lamps?

Cunningham: Himalayan Salt Lamps are said to offer amazing health benefits, particularly if you suffer from a variety of bronchial and sinus conditions. Imagine standing atop a mountain and breathing rarified air...exposing oneself to a Himalayan Salt Lamp is regularly compared to this type of experience. If you need more energy and less congestion in your life, many are convinced that  Himalayan Salt Lamps are the solution.

Patch: What would you tell someone about the store that has no prior understanding of "natural living" or eco-friendly products?

Cunningham: I would let them know that you can buy products that are safer for you and your family as well as the environment, without having to pay alot of money. Almost any product that you can buy from a retail store can be purchased at our store from an eco-conscious and friendly manufacturer. Organic and natural products are the very best products on the market.

Patch: Any thoughts to share on celebrating one year of being in business in Westchase?

Cunningham:  We would like to thank the community for supporting our store. We knew the area was a great place to set up our store, but the support has just been tremendous.  If someone have visited the store in the past year and they come back again, they will see how much we have changed.  We are constantly trying to improve by listening to our customers and ordering products that you would like for us to stock.
