Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Receives $2,500 from AT&T in Recognition of AT&T Employee

Regina Ennis' Efforts Resulted in a Donation for Leading Positive Change in Community to Fight Distracted Driving

Regina Ennis, an AT&T employee based in White Plains, New York, believes in the power of distracted driving safety and awareness.

This past fall, through the AT&T Do One Thing initiative and the IT CAN WAIT 16 in ’16 contest, Ennis, along with hundreds of other AT&T employees, worked to move the needle on distracted driving. Each created their own pledge teams, then asked family and friends to take the pledge to not drive distracted.

As a result, Ennis' team secured nearly 400 pledges and won first place among all AT&T employee teams.

As the first place winner, Ennis was awarded the opportunity to designate an organization or non-profit with a distracted driving program in place to receive $2,500 from AT&T. She chose the Bradenton-based Mark Wandall Foundation. Its founder, Melissa Wandall, donated the contribution to the Safe Kids Program at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Safe Kids was created with the goal of preventing injuries in children, the number one killer of kids in the United States.

The $2,500 contribution will further the education of new parents and teens about distracted driving through current programs offered at the hospital. On Jan. 18, All Children's Hospital recognized Ennis and Melissa Wandall during a check presentation at the hospital.

AT&T recognized Ennis as one of the 2016 AT&T Champions of DOT (Do One Thing).

With the DOT initiative, AT&T employees have a positive impact on the environment and their communities through making small changes in their life like recycling, volunteering or riding a bike to work. AT&T recognizes 4 employees or groups of employees annually that stand out for innovative and effective ideas that benefit their colleagues, their community or the environment.
