Motorized Bike Rider Killed on Sheldon Road

An 88-year-old Tampa man is dead following an accident on Sheldon Road Tuesday morning.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Rafael Concepcion was traveling southbound on the sidewalk on the eastside of Sheldon Road on a three-wheel motorized bicycle when the crash happen. Concepcion attempted to cross the driveway of Palm Harbor Dermatology, 11601 Sheldon Road, around 11:39 a.m. when he was struck by a 2013 Ford Fiesta driven by Kathleen D’alessandro, 73.

“D’alessandro looked left to ensure traffic was clear and, as she pulled forward, she struck Concepcion,” an email from the sheriff’s office stated.

Concepcion died at the scene.

The investigation continues.
