Ravens Pound Gryphons 15-2
The Alonso Ravens shredded Sickles starting pitcher Marc Perez in the first inning for nine runs.
It all went wrong for Sickles in the first inning.
Alonso’s first batter, Matt Brandy, hit a pop-up to third base. Sickles third-baseman, Hedric Carela missed it. Then Alonso’s Juan Bracamomte hit a single to left field, and Jose Fernandez smashed a double to left field to drive in Brandy.
It unraveled for the Gryphons from there.

Perez struckout Dylan Gross for his only strikeout of the game, then walked the next two batters. Hedric Carela committed another error on a routine grounder that would have ended the inning.
It didn’t.

Wyatt Reid of Alonso got an RBI single. Matt Brandy got a double to center field, driving in two more runs, followed by Juan Bracamonte getting a single to right field that drove in two more, making it 8-0.
Sickles Coach Bob Pagano replaced Perez with Andrew Stuart. Stuart gave up one more run before finally closing out the inning.
“We’ve got guys that can swing the bat. He (Perez) kept getting behind in the count and we took advantage,” said Alonso Coach Orlando Faedo.
Pagano tried to pull his team out of their nosedive before they came up to hit.
“Guys, don’t look at the scoreboard," he told the players. "Just treat it like any other game."
The Gryphons managed a couple runs in the second but only after Alonso got two of their own in the second.
It was a long night for the Sickles club. The only noteworthy performance was from junior catcher, Mick Kuhn. He caught for three different pitchers and stopped numerous balls in the dirt, even threw out Wyatt Reid trying to steal second. Kuhn went two-for-two at the plate with two doubles.
“I use it as motivation," said Kuhn. "I always want to show a team that we’re not gonna roll over no matter how far behind we are."
The Gryphons will travel to play King next Tuesday. The Ravens will host Chamberlain next Tuesday.
