Register To Vote At These Nearby Locations This Weekend

Need to register to vote? Do it this weekend at these nearby locations.

If you aren’t a registered voter but want to participate in the general election Nov. 6, you have one month left to make it happen.

The deadline to register to vote in the general election is Oct. 9.

To register, you can visit any Supervisor of Elections office, public library, driver license office, state agency providing public assistance or armed forces recruiting office, according to a media release from the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections office.

You can also download a voter registration application from the Supervisor of Elections website. New voter applications must either bear an Oct. 9 postmark, or be delivered to any elections office by the close of business on Oct. 9, the release states.

While on the website, Hillsborough County residents can also check their registration status, request a Vote By Mail Ballot or locate a nearby elections office.

Here are some voter registration events happening nearby this weekend:

  • Saturday, Sept. 15  10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - ITT Technical Institute; 4809 Memorial Hwy., Tampa, FL 33634.
  • Sunday, Sept. 16 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Incarnation Catholic Church, 5124 Gateway Drive  Tampa, FL 33615 (Intersection of Hillsborough Avenue and Webb Road.) The registration table will be located in the gazebo near the church parking lot.

According to the Supervisor of Elections Office, to be eligible to register to vote in Florida, you must:

  • be a citizen of the United States of America;
  • be a Florida resident;
  • be at least 18 years old (you may pre-register to vote at the age of 16, but you cannot vote until you are 18 years old);
  • not be adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state;
  • not have been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored;
  • provide your current and valid Florida driver’s license number or Florida identification card number. You must provide the last four digits of your Social Security Number if you do not have a Florida driver’s license number or a Florida identification card number. If you do not have any of these items, you must mark the box indicated on the Voter Registration Application as “NONE.”
