Snapchat Video Shows Road Rage Robbery Suspect, Deputies Say
A search is under way for a motorist who allegedly tried to attack a motorcyclist with a bat in Tampa.

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a motorist its deputies say attacked a motorcyclist with a bat and then stole his necklace following a road rage incident on Hillsborough Avenue.
According to the sheriff’ office, the incident began to unfold on July 20 around 11:37 a.m. on Hillsborough Avenue at Town ‘N Country Boulevard. The victim, who was riding a motorcycle, told deputies he was being tailgated by a man in a gray pickup truck. At some point, the two exchanged words with the motorcyclist mentioning the dangers of tailgating.
After those words were exchanged, “the suspect sped past him and stopped abruptly,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media. The man in the truck reportedly grabbed a bat from inside the vehicle and started to threaten the motorcyclist. Deputies say the motorcyclist tried to call 911.

The pickup’s driver is then accused of saying, “I’ll just take this instead,” before snatching the motorcyclist’s gold chain from his neck and then taking off.
Some of the incident was captured on a Snapchat video, which has since been released.

Deputies say their suspect is a white male, possibly Hispanic. He is between the age of 30 and 35 and stands about 5-foot-6. Deputies say he has a medium build and black hair that is cut in a Mohawk style. He was driving a light gray Nissan extended cab pickup with flared wheel wells. Deputies believe the truck is a 2000 to 2005 models.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 813-247-8200. Tips may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-873-TIPS. Crime Stoppers’ tips that lead to an arrest may be worth a reward.
