Softball Report: Sickles Defeats Alonso 5-1

It was a tight game until the 6th inning when Sickles pushed two runs across that put the game out of reach. Here are some highlights:

  • Starting pitchers junior Erika Shick for Alonso and junior Nichole Lewis for both had good games.
  • Sophomore Megin Eskew went 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI for The Gryphons.
  • Freshman Jessica Warren hit a double for The Ravens in the first inning but cooled off later in the game.

“We’d been a little slow the last couple of games but tonight we picked it back up,” said Gryphon Coach Phil Giarizzo.

Alonso showed a glimmer of hope in the top of the seventh when Freshman Jaylene Pryor hit a lead-off single to left field but Sickles’ ace pitcher Nichole Lewis got Haley Huchro to fly out and Kiara Johnson to ground out and that was it for The Ravens.

Lewis was glad to get back on track.
