Splash Managers Seeking Help for Displaced Workers

The local eatery closed its doors last week leaving 40 employees out of work.

While local residents are mourning the closing of Splash, some 40 or so employees are also feeling the loss.

The restaurant closed its doors May 28 following a landlord dispute. The popular restaurant’s closing was met with dismay by area Patch readers.

“I'll never understand why property owners rather have some rent coming to them than nothing at all,” wrote reader Henry J. Fontanills on the Lutz Patch Facebook page. “Same thing happened with Cici's on Dale Mabry, Sub Port and few others I can't recall. All are still empty I believe earning nothing.”

“Hope they reopen at another location,” wrote reader Mary Ann Romer on a story about the closing. “They made the best risotto.”

While it remains unclear if Splash will reopen at a new location, managers are seeking employment opportunities for staffers impacted by the closing.

“The worst part of closing is putting 40 people or so out of work, including Tom and myself,” the Splash Facebook page says. “If you or your business have any employment opportunities for our staff, please let us know and we'll pass the information along.”
