Tarpon, Redfish Should Improve Away from Full Moon
Capt. Jason Prieto of Steady Action Fishing Charters in Tampa gives a fishing forecast

Capt. Jason Prieto of Steady Action Fishing Charters said tarpon fishing should be in full swing off the beaches this weekend and into next week.
Snook fishing should pickup as well off the beaches, in the passes and around the spoil island, he said.
The redfish action had been off during the full moon. Prieto thinks the reds were feeding primarily at night, and he hopes the redfish bite improves away from the full moon. There were many reports of the majority of reds being under or over their 18-to-27-inch slot (including one per angler, per day).

Prieto reported catching a couple lower-slot reds, however.
There are still a few scattered kingfish off the beaches and, of course, the Spanish mackerel bite has been good off the beaches and down toward the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

Prieto fished Thursday and reported another good tarpon bite on the beaches near bridges and inside the bay.
He said the trout bite has been good in deep grass flats of 4- to 6-feet of water depth.
Prieto added that big snook are yet to have congregated in the passes.
Finally, he said cobia have been hanging out around the range markers.
