Thief Loses Ride, 2 TVs

The man's misfortune was captured on surveillance.

A shoplifter who thought he’d gotten away with swiping two televisions from a Walmart store wasn’t quite as lucky as he likely imagined.

It seems the man’s Dec. 4 antics at the Walmart in Town ‘N Country were captured on video. The suspect was witnessed walking into the store and selecting two televisions worth about $500 just before 7 p.m. He then walked out of the store without paying, an email from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said. The man’s ride, however, took off and left him holding the bag, or more aptly the televisions, the email said.

Rather than attempt the haul without a vehicle, the suspect abandoned the televisions and was last seen running through the parking lot in an easterly direction.
