Westchase Elementary and Middle Schools Receive Top Grades From State
The Florida Department of Education has issued their annual report card and six Westchase Elementary and Middle Schools received A's for the fourth year in a row -- two rank top among top in the state.

For many students getting straight A's year after year on their report cards is a monumental accomplishment that requires dedication and hard work.
The same is true for the schools that they attend.
On Wednesday, the Florida Department of Education released the report card for elementary and middle schools statewide -- six Westchase schools received A's from the state.

The A through F grades that schools receive each year are based on a point system, which awards one point for each percent of students who score proficient or higher on the FCAT and who make annual learning gains.
The best possible score a school can receive is 800 points. For a school to receive an A, it must score a minimum of 525 points.

Scores for the Westchase schools for the 2010/2011 school year are as follows:
Westchase Elementary - 689 points
Mary Bryant Elementary - 688 points
Deer Park Elementary - 645 points
Farnell Middle - 610 points
Walker Middle - 584 points

What makes this achievement extra special is that it continues a trend of excellence among these six Westchase schools that have attained A's for at least the last four years and in some cases for a decade or longer.
Mary Bryant, Deer Park and Farnell have never received less than an A grade since their founding.
Seven of the top 50 statewide schools are located in Hillsborough County. Westchase and Mary Bryant elementary schools are among those. The report assessing high schools will be released in November.
