Westchase Patch Athlete of the Week: Jonathan Bermudez

This Sickles runner is involved in student government when not on the track.

Jonathan Bermudez is the class vice president and 800m/1600m runner. The runner is also the yearbook editor-in-chief and the Key Club Vice President.

Westchase Patch sat down with the Jonathan this week.

How did you get started running track?

Jonathan: My grandfather was a 200m sprinter at Boca Ciega High School in Pinellas County. That was always an inspiration. I started actually running track in seventh grade at Cambridge Christian.

What is your favorite thing about track and field?

Jonathan: My teammates. I love practicing.

What is the most difficult thing?

Jonathan: The lack of a head coach. Our coach stepped down this year and it's hard without one.

What are your plans for college?

Jonathan: Right now I'm looking at The University of North Florida. I'd like to try out for that cross country team.

What is your favorite movie?

Jonathan: Girl Next Door.

TV show?

Jonathan: Prison Break.

Favorite sports team?

Jonathan: University of Oregon Track and Field Team.
