With Tannin-Colored Water Gone, Hit Bridges for Mackerel

Capt. Mark of A Action Filled Advenure gives Westchase-area anglers tips to give them the best shot possible at some tugging action this weekend

Capt. Mark of A Action Filled Adventure suggests anglers this weekend hit the Courtney Campbell Causeway to fish the bridge for Spanish mackerel.

“I know there's been some mackerel in the north end of the bay,” he said.

He suggested slow-trolling No. 3, 4 and 5 Clark spoons, or anchor-up and drift live baits, such as shrimp or sardines.

“It was like the Hillsborough River 20 miles upstream,” he said.

With winds blowing 15-20 mph, the conditions were pretty dismal, he said.

“Just don't fish the day after rains,” he said.
