Woman Pulled Off $1K Fitbit Heist, Deputies Say

Hillsborough County deputies are looking for a woman they say stole seven Fitbits from a Tampa store.

Tampa, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is looking for some help identifying a woman deputies say helped herself to seven Fitbits earlier this month.

According to the agency, the woman went into the 6295 W. Waters Ave. Target store just before 8:40 p.m. on June 9 and made a beeline for the sporting goods section. Once there, she used a security key to take seven Fitbits from a locked display peg and shoved them into her purse, an email from the agency said.

Deputies say the woman than proceeded to the checkout where she paid for a single DVD on a credit card, but not the Fitbits. She then walked out of the store, setting off the security alarms, the agency said.
