Wrong-Way Driver Caused Crash, Deputies Say

The man now faces DUI charges after a Thursday evening crash on Race Track Road.

TAMPA, FL — A 56-year-old Tampa man faces DUI charges after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say he drove the wrong way on Race Track Road and caused a crash.

According to the sheriff’s office, the charges against Kenneth Neads stem from a Thursday evening crash. Deputies say Neads was heading south on Race Track Road’s northbound lanes around 7:16 p.m. when his 2003 Toyota Camry struck the front of a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country.

When deputies arrived on scene, they noticed signs of impairment, an email from the sheriff’s office said. Neads refused to perform field sobriety tests, but was charged with DUI with property damage. The sheriff’s office estimated total damage in the crash at $8,000. No injuries were noted by the sheriff’s office.
