JEKYLL ISLAND, GA — As summer approaches, beachgoers may want to travel near the coast to experience Georgia's nationally-ranked beach.
With its "golden sands" and its "clear blue waters," Jekyll Island's Driftwood Beach is deemed one of the best beaches nationwide by travel guidance platform Tripadvisor. Driftwood landed at No. 8 among 25 beaches.
Tripadvisor recently released its 2024 Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best winners, the highest honor in travel, it says.
"It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone," Tripadvisor said.
The setting of Driftwood is quiet, peaceful and relaxing, Tripadvisor said in its ranking. The scenery lends itself to watching the sunset. Weathered driftwood and a sandy shore are also featured at the notable beach.
And, per Tripadvisor, Driftwood offers easy parking and is pet friendly.
