ATLANTA, GA — An Atlanta restaurant that has quickly become one of the city's most acclaimed dining destinations has earned another major honor after being named among North America's top restaurants.
Avize debuted at No. 29 on the 2026 North America's 50 Best Restaurants list, making it the only Georgia restaurant to appear in this year's rankings.
The restaurant was also recognized as a "new entry" on the annual list.
Located in Atlanta's West Midtown neighborhood, Avize opened in 2024 and specializes in Alpine-inspired cuisine, drawing from the culinary traditions of Austria, Bavaria and other European mountain regions.
The restaurant is led by chef Karl Gorline and beverage director Taurean Philpott, who developed the concept around Gorline's Bavarian family heritage while incorporating Southern ingredients and flavors.
National food critics have praised the restaurant's distinctive approach, with signature dishes including lemon-pepper frog legs, rabbit heart boudin, trout and other offerings.
The recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for Avize.
The restaurant has also been included on The New York Times' list of America's best restaurants, earned a Michelin Recommended designation and was named Eater Atlanta's Best New Restaurant.
Avize also joined several first-time honorees on the 2026 list and ranked ahead of restaurants in New Orleans, San Diego, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
Chicago's Smyth claimed the No. 1 spot on the 2026 list.
