ATKINSON COUNTY, GA — A murder suspect who escaped from a Georgia jail is back in custody, the FBI Atlanta office said Tuesday.
Federal authorities said they have re-captured Pablo Zuriel Miranda after he escaped from the Atkinson County Jail early Sunday morning in Pearson.
Miranda, a 34-year-old Mexican national, was being held on a pretrial detention for the charges of murder and aggravated assault, the FBI said.
On Sunday, authorities said they additionally charged him with felony escape.
Then, on Monday, a federal arrest warrant was issued in Augusta after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, the FBI said.
In searching for Miranda, authorities said they believed he might have attempted to flee to Mexico. The FBI offered a reward of up to $10,000 in connection with his arrest.
