Audi plans to build its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Middle Georgia, the German automaker announced Saturday.
The Middle Georgia Megasite will create 4,500 jobs and manufacture up to 200,000 vehicles per year, the company announced.
The luxury automaker plans to open the 1,474-acre facility in Peach County, along Georgia Highway 96 near Interstate 75, officials said. Grading is expected to in 2027, with construction beginning in 2028. Production is expected to begin in the early 2030s.
Audi says the facility represents a longterm commitment to American customers and establishes North America as a third major pillar of Audi's global production, alongside Europe and China.
"We have much greater ambitions for Audi in America," Gernot Döllner, chair of Audi's board of management, said in a statement. "The United States is one of the world's most important premium markets, and we have not yet realized our full potential. We are determined to change that — with premium products, a stronger brand and a competitive local production base."
Georgia combines an investment-ready site, skilled workforce and an established automaker supplier network, according to Audi. The planned facility also provides space for future expansion.
