VIENNA, GA — Eight people are facing murder charges in connection with a mass shooting that killed two men and injured 44 people at a Dooly County block party last month, authorities said.

Two suspects remain at large in connection with the deadly Oct. 4 shooting in Vienna, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said. At that time, the agency said 35 people were injured.

However, on Thursday, the GBI said 44 people were injured in the shooting. Twenty-eight of them suffered gunshot wounds, and 16 people suffered other injuries.

Ja'Quavion Aderious Jackson, a 21-year-old Cordele resident, and Macaleb Malik Jackson, a 23-year-old resident, died in the shooting, the GBI said.

It took place around 1:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Pine Street. Authorities have not yet released a motive.

Deputies were near the scene when the shooting began, Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy said in the past, and after they arrived, more gunfire erupted about a block away.

More than 1,000 people had gathered at the site, and more than 50 shots were fired, Peavy told 13WMAZ.

Both Jackson men were pronounced dead at the scene in the 600 block of Pine, the GBI previously said.

State and local authorities have charged 10 people in connection with the incident. Suspects Brexton Esamuel Gaston, 19, of Cordele, and Vanravious Rashad Williams, 34, of Perry, remain at large, the GBI said.

Gaston and Williams both face charges of murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and participation in criminal street gang activity, the GBI said. Gaston additionally faces charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

"(They) are considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach or attempt to contact them. If you see these individuals or have information regarding their whereabouts, move to a safe location and call 911 immediately," the GBI said.

Previously, authorities said Kelcey Smith, 36, and Johntavirous Robinson, 40, both of Cordele, face two counts of participation in criminal street gang activity, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence charges in connection with the fatal shooting.

Once the GBI's investigation is completed, the case file will be given to the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia for review.
