Milton Cross Country Successful at Season Opener

The Eagle cross country teams traveled to Loganville, GA to take on 24 schools at the LCA Invitational at Loganville Christian Academy and came away with two team wins, a runner-up and a third place to start the 2026 campaign.

Varsity Girls
The Lady Eagles used up-front presence & solid pack running to turn back 14 schools to capture the team title. Milton (1st-51 pts) easily outdistanced 7A powers Lambert (2nd-87 pts) & Buford (3rd-90 pts). Staying up with the leaders, junior Sadie Katekovich (4th-20:53) paced the Lady Eagles & was joined by junior Lucie Blake (7th-21:02) most of the race. Milton used a strong group of finishers to bolster their front runners to capture the team title. Freshman Maisie Wilderspin (10th-21:41) captured the last individual medal award while leading sophomore Sloane Robers (14th-22:17), senior captain Ava Kane (16th-22:32) & junior Kenley Sirras (17th-22:32) to the finish. Senior captain Claire Falor (23rd-22:56) closed out the Milton finishers in the varsity race.

Varsity Boys
Milton (3rd-78 pts) was in the hunt for the team championship the entire race & fell just short in the 15-school field. The Eagles were edged out by 5A rival Jackson County (1st-69 pts) & Hebron Christian (2nd-74 pts). Senior captain Will Chambers (3rd-17:10) was upfront the entire race to lead the Milton effort. Sophomore Noah Jenkins (8th-17:34) had an inspiring performance that kept him in the top-10 the entire race. Senior Jace Kasteler (19th-18:15) followed and was supported by freshman William Brown (25th-18:22), senior Logan Bradway (26th-18:22) & sophomore William Gilbert (27th-18:33). Junior Leo Faught (30th-18:46) concluded the Milton scorers.

JV Boys
The Eagles overwhelmed all the competition on their way to the 2nd team win of the meet. Milton (1st-29 pts) dispatched 8 schools with Lambert (2nd-74 pts) & Buford (3rd-83 pts).
Leading the way for the Eagles were junior Ryder Fogle (2nd-19:33), senior captain Tyler Nix (3rd-19:38) & junior Phoenix Vance (5th-19:43). The VanBelle brothers were Milton's final scorers with senior Boston (7th-19:46) & sophomore Chase (12th-20:31).

JV Girls
The last race of the meet for Milton (2nd-34 pts) was a nail-biter with head-to-head with the Lady Longhorns of Lambert (1st-30 pts) who eventually prevailed in a very close finish. The Lady Eagles put 9 finishers in the top-16 places and fell just short of the team victory. Leading the way for Milton was junior Audrey Grose (1st-22:54) getting the overall win as senior Cara Tenhundfeld (2nd-22:59) finished right behind her! Scorers for the Lady Eagles included junior Liv Becker (8th-25:08), senior Emily Chambliss (11th-25:21) & junior Ava Walker (12th-25:28).

The Eagle Cross Country teams next see action on August 29th in Douglasville, GA at the Bob Blastow/Early Bird Invitational at the Foxhall Resort hosted by Alexander High School.
