• 1 arrested in deadly Americus shooting, victim identified as 27-year-old man, city says (13wmaz.com) — A weekend shooting in Americus left a 27-year-old DeSoto man dead, and a 21-year-old suspect is now in custody facing felony murder and related charges. The incident happened late Saturday near Bessie Mays Circle, and investigators from the Americus Police Department and GBI are asking anyone with information to call local police, including an after-hours number.
