• Phoebe Sumter to Host Sip & Screen Mammogram Event for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (americustimesrecorder.com) — Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus is hosting special Sip & Screen evenings today, October 8, and again on October 22, offering screening mammograms from 4 to 7 p.m. with pink lemonade, treats, and breast health education. Appointments are required, and space is limited, giving local women a convenient way to prioritize early detection close to home.
• Tropical Storm Isaias Brings Slight Flood Risk to Atlanta, Athens, Gainesville, and Macon Saturday With Gusty Squalls Before Drier Weather Returns Sunday (bananatreenews.today) — Americus is included in a slight flood-risk zone Saturday as Tropical Storm Isaias brings bands of heavy rain and gusty winds across central and north Georgia. Not every neighborhood will see the same rainfall, but repeated squalls could cause localized flooding and a low tornado threat. Residents are urged to monitor warnings, avoid flooded roads, and expect drier weather Sunday.
