A Visit to The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at The University of Georgia
Have you visited lately, or for that matter, ever? After last week's Mother's Day rainfall the gardens are in bloom and they are truly spectacular. My six year old daughter and I are frequent visitors to the garden all year round. My family and I are lucky enough to live nearby by so we can see the metmorphosis that the garden goes through during different seasons.
The State Botanical Garden of Georgia has something to offer for all ages. There are educational programs, concerts, certification programs, field trips, camps, workshops, art programs and hands-on gardening programs, just to mention a few. If you are looking for a peaceful place to read a book, you have found the place. The Garden does offers several areas where one can get some shade during the heat of the day. I should also mention there is always a symphony of birds chirping and bees buzzing....the sounds of nature at work.
There have been many changes to the visitor center area within the last year or so. You can now visit a much larger gift shop upon entering the visitor center that offers some goods from local businesses. is now located on the upper level in the Conservatory Great Room Area. Dondero's is a locally-owned business that offers delicious international food, prepared from scratch daily. What could be better than enjoying a scrumptious lunch or sipping on freshly brewed coffee while surrounded by such natural beauty...not to mention the health benefits from all of that clean oxygen!!!

The Visitor Center offers plenty of seating both indoors and outside for your coffee sipping, snacking, nature viewing, reading, and or, a spot to rest after going out on some of the nature trails. I encourage you to visit this beautiful place if you have not been yet, or revisit to see the changes to the visitor center and of course the ever-changing natural enviroment. Please be sure to take a walk inside the conservatory and around the gardens to see the splendor of it all. Go back more than once, and in different seasons.
