Crash Traps Car Beneath Clarke Co. School Bus Carrying Students

ATHENS, GA — A car became trapped under a school bus during a morning crash Thursday at Athens Perimeter near the Jefferson Road exit, fire officials said.

The school bus belonged to the Clarke County School District, according to the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department. Students were on board, but no one on the bus reported injuries, fire officials said.

However, the car was wedged underneath the bus, they said. This led first responders to utilize specialized towing equipment.

It is unknown what led to the crash. All lanes have since reopened, the fire department stated.
