Athens police arrest South Carolina man in catfishing scheme (fox5atlanta.com) — Athens-Clarke County police have arrested a South Carolina man accused of running an online catfishing scheme that defrauded multiple victims, and they believe more victims may still be unidentified. Residents in Athens are urged to be cautious about online relationships, especially if money or gifts are requested, and to contact Sgt. Nathaniel Franco if they suspect fraud.

Athens nursing assistants earn Disney trip through Pruitt-Health program (onlineathens.com) — Nursing assistants from Pruitt-Health facilities in Athens have earned senior CNA status and celebrated with a company-funded trip to Walt Disney World, highlighting a major career milestone for local caregivers. Postdoctoral Research Associate Position – Odum School of Ecology (uw.edu) — A new two-year postdoctoral research associate position is open at the Odum School of Ecology's Wildlife and Water Lab at the University of Georgia in Athens, focusing on spatial biodiversity data, ecohydrology of birds, and AI-enabled decision tools.
