• Athens police restrict Flock access after alleged misuse (nowgeorgia.com) — Athens-Clarke County police have sharply limited who can access the county's Flock license plate reader cameras after an employee was accused of using the system to track his ex-wife's car. Only lieutenants and above can now use Flock, and even they need higher approval, while state and internal investigators continue reviewing how ACCPD handles this surveillance technology.
• University of Georgia marks 25 years since 9/11 with memorial stair climb at Sanford Stadium (11alive.com) — In Athens, the University of Georgia honored the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with a dawn stair climb at Sanford Stadium, where participants repeated 120 steps 19 times. More than 130 students joined about 80 first responders from Athens-Clarke County and nearby agencies, including a survivor of the World Trade Center attacks who shared reflections on sacrifice and gratitude.
• Join WUGA's Community Advisory Council! (wuga.org) — Residents in Athens are invited to volunteer with WUGA's Community Advisory Council, which helps shape and support the station's outreach across the area. Members meet quarterly, act as a sounding board for programming needs, and connect staff with community networks. Participation is volunteer-based, and interested locals can apply online to get involved.
