Advance Auto opens new store in Athens; fifth one in Classic City (onlineathens.com) โ A new Advance Auto store has opened at 5055 Jefferson Road, giving Athens five locations and expanding local options for auto parts and service. At the ribbon cutting, the company donated another $1,000 to Athens Technical College's automotive technology program, highlighting growing demand for skilled technicians and new career pathways for local students.

2. St. Mary's Medical Group to Open New Office Building in Oconee (athensceo.com) โ Residents who use St. Mary's specialists in Athens should note that Endocrine Specialists of Athens and St. Mary's Neurological Specialists are moving from Daniells Bridge Road in Athens to a new building on Hog Mountain Road in Watkinsville on Oct. 6. The move is part of a larger regional investment and will expand space for internal medicine and heart and vascular services at the former Athens locations.

Community briefs: Homecoming, survivor justice and DJ Ezra (fox5atlanta.com) โ Homecoming weekend is underway in Athens, with the University of Georgia's parade and Saturday's Bulldogs-Vanderbilt game giving locals plenty to enjoy close to home. The same roundup also highlights a Fulton County panel on domestic violence survivor justice and a teen cancer patient in Atlanta who DJed a hospital-wide homecoming celebration.

Georgia man claims $2 million prize surrounded by family (nclottery.com) โ An Athens resident, Angel Navarrete, recently won a $2 million top prize on a 100X The Cash scratch-off ticket bought during a family outing in Hayesville. He chose a lump-sum payout of about $864,000 after taxes and plans to use the money for bills, investing, and saving.
