Burger lovers will soon have a new mecca with the planned opening of an Athens outpost of Atlanta-based Grindhouse Killer Burgers in early summer 2013, located in Five Points on Lumpkin Street, at the corner of Woodrow Ave. With a full bar and killer roof deck, the new Grindhouse Killer Burgers will be the “go-to” spot for anyone craving a burger in Athens (and beyond).
The Grindhouse team has chosen local contractors Cloverleaf Group LLC to head up construction of the restaurant.

About Founder and Owner Alex Brounstein
A jack-of-all-trades, Alex took the leap into the restaurant business in 2008 with virtually no prior experience in the industry. Prior to this, Alex worked in various fields as diverse as entertainment law, real estate development and internet marketing consulting. As a pro-bono project, Alex spent several years attempting to revitalize the 85 year old Sweet Auburn Curb Market in downtown Atlanta, and helped to secure a nearly $1 million federal stimulus grant for the historic building. After economic downturn in 2008, Alex found himself out of a job and decided to take things into his own hands, opening a tiny 20 seat burger counter in the back corner of the Curb Market. Situated among seafood, meat and produce vendors, Grindhouse quickly became known as the place to get the best burgers in one of the most unique and fun atmospheres in Atlanta. Brounstein followed the success of the original Grindhouse Killer Burgers with a second location on Piedmont road in a converted fueling station, with seating for more than 150 people and a full bar. In 2013, Grindhouse will expand yet again, this time into Athens, Georgia, as well into the Hartsfield-Atlanta International Airport.
