Discover. Restore. Explore Ellijay’s Historical Park

Harrison Park Board of Directors recruits UGA's Center for Design & Preservation to restore the city park

Ellijay, GA (January 16, 2017)- This month, Harrison Park Board of Directors will begin the transformation process of restoring and creating a new destination in the historical district of Downtown Ellijay. They will be hosting a weekend-long master planning session with University of Georgia’s Center For Design and Preservation Students & Faculty January 27th -January 29th. During this planning session, the students and faculty members will have the opportunity to explore Ellijay’s small town charm, discover the needs of the park based on the community marketing polls, and interacting with the public during the open forums. These explorations will help guide them to develop the proper designs for the restoration plan. If you would like to participate in the master planning session, join community members at Harrison Hall (180 Dalton Street, Ellijay, GA 30540) during the following dates & times below:

January 27th at 10:30 am - Kick-off Meeting

January 28th at 3:00 pm - Small Group Presentations

ABOUT HARRISON PARK

Harrison Park is 26 acres stretching out along the Ellijay River located just a short walk from Historic Downtown Ellijay. The Park was once farmland and preserves the natural habitat along the Ellijay River while providing an abundance of open space for picnic areas, benches, walking trails and numerous community projects and events. Future plans include stages for concerts and plays and movies as well as several festivals each year.
