Artist Pete Muzyka finds rich textures and interesting visual silhouettes in the ruins of abandoned farmhouses, tractors, chimneys left standing after a fire, and a landscape that was once filled with promises of thriving small family farms. His works in egg tempera, oils and pen and ink recall the mysteries of rural life in Georgia now all but gone. Muzyka will present a slide talk reflecting on abandoned rural Georgia at the Lyndon House Arts Center, 293 Hoyt St., Athens. This event will also be streamed live online at www.boomersinathens.org. This program is free and in partnership with the Athens Art Association and “The Boomers: Reflecting, Sharing, Learning,” a leadership grant from the U. S. Institute of Museum and Library Services awarded to the Lyndon House Arts Center and the Athens Regional Library System. Instructions for joining the webcast will be posted on BoomersinAthens.org a week prior to the event. It will also be archived on the website.
