Monday & Tuesday, June 11 & 12, at 7:00pm, with callbacks, if necessary, on Tuesday evening. The show runs August 3 - 12. 2012. Auditions will be open and include cold readings from the script, a few simple movement routines, and some small, non-threatening improvisation... all exercises.
If you are interested in having a fun, collaborative, and bawdy summer theatrical experience while also re-creating a 2500 year old classic play, then audition for Aristophanes’ Lysistrata! Although this is thought of as a “women’s play” there are nearly as many speaking roles for men as there are for women - 12 women’s speaking roles and 9 men’s speaking roles - with several other characters who will see plenty of action and stage time. Actors who are in the Old Men’s and Old Women’s Choruses do not HAVE to be old (altho the director has empathy for old actors) and they will be providing much of the physical humor of the play.
PLEASE NOTE! This 2500 year old comedy contains overt sexual references, profanity, giant phalluses, bawdy humor, and pointed political satire! Not for children or people who are uncomfortable with these things.
Rehearsals will be M-Th evenings from 7-9:30 pm, through July. Contact Rick Rose for additional information or possible audition conflicts at rrose@uga.edu or 706-354-4055.
