In Court, Jamie Hood Admits to Killing Police Officer Buddy Christian
"I took a man's life," Hood says in Judge David Sweat's courtroom.

In court for a hearing to argue pre-trial motions, accused cop killer Jamie Hood admitted that he killed Athens Clarke County Police officer Buddy Christian.
According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Hood said, "I took a man's life and I believe his family needs to know the truth."

Hood is accused of shooting and killing Christian and of shooting ACC Police Officer Tony Howard on March 22, 2011. He is also accused of killing an Athens Clarke County employee in December 2010. For these charges, he faces the death penalty.
When he was arrested in March 2011, Hood said, "I regret killing that officer. That innocent officer didn't deserve that."

Hood was in a car that Howard stopped in order to question Hood and others about an incident earlier in the day in which a man was kidnapped and robbed. Hood allegedly shot Howard in the face and upper body and then ran from the scene, supposedly shooting Christian who arrived to provide back-up.
