Police Videos From Crash That Killed UGA Player, Staffer Released
The videos released Friday provide a more detailed look at what happened leading up to the Jan. 15 crash.

ATLANTA, GA — Hours of police videos taken following a January crash that killed Univerisity of Georgia football player Devin Willock and UGA recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy, and injured two other members of the football program, have been released.
The nearly eight hours of video released Friday by Athens-Clarke Police to Atlanta News First Investigates through an open records request provides the most detailed look at what happened on the night of the Jan. 15 collision. The videos also show interviews from that night, as well as in the following weeks, of those involved, including interviews with University of Georgia football players.
Jalen Carter, a former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman, pleaded no contest earlier in March to reckless driving and racing charges in connection with the collision near Barnett Shoals Road, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was sentenced to 12 months probation, a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service.

He also has been ordered to complete a state-approved defensive driving course, the AJC reported.
Police have said LeCroy was driving a 2021 Ford Expedition while Carter was driving a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk when the two were racing around 2:30 a.m. Both cars were switching lanes, driving in the center turn lane and drove in opposite lanes while overtaking other cars and driving fast to speed past one another, police said.

The Expedition was going at 104 mph before crashing, police said. A toxicology report showed LeCroy's blood alcohol concentration was .197 at the time of the crash, police said.
Alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving and speed were contributing factors in the crash, police said.
The Solicitor General's Office is reviewing the case. UGA celebrated the Georgia Bulldogs football championship victory hours prior to the wreck.
