Winning Lottery Ticket Worth $260K Sold in Athens

A winning ticket with a Fantasy 5 jackpot prize was sold in Athens. BP Food Mart, located at 8444 Jefferson Road, sold a winning ticket worth $260,610 from the Aug. 2 Fantasy 5 drawing.

The winner, Heyward Young of Athens, matched all five winning numbers and claimed his prize at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

Winning numbers from the Aug. 2 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 3-4-17-24-29.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
