Among major races Tuesday, multiple nominees learned their fate in Georgia's general primary.
Three key races were lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general. The two former races resulted in runoffs, which will be held on June 16.
Candidates must have cleared the required 50 percent plus one vote threshold to avoid a runoff in the primary.
Party nominees in their respective races will head to the Nov. 3 general election. A runoff could be held on Dec. 1.
Georgia Republicans looked for a challenger to Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff. U.S. Reps. Mike Collins and Buddy Carter played up their conservative records on Capitol Hill, while former college football coach Derek Dooley pitched himself as a political outsider.
The race to replace Ossoff is heading for a runoff, with Collins and Dooley as the last two remaining candidates, the Associated Press reported.
In the governor primary, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and healthcare billionaire Rick Jackson have advanced to the June 16 Republican runoff, extending a bruising campaign battle.
