It is unknown what led to the arrest and where the arrest took place in Clayton.

"Love you all. I'm working on myself," Poirier wrote on his Instagram story Monday.

TMZ reported his initial court hearing was held Monday morning.

He has been working toward sobriety since late last year, ESPN reported.

Poirier, who is known as "The Diamond," is a Louisiana native who retired from the UFC following his July 19, 2025 trilogy fight against Max Holloway.

Most recently, Poirier appears on Paramount+'s "Deep Waters," a new series focused on professional mixed martial arts.

He is also the co-founder of The Good Fight, a charitable organization that has benefitted the causes of food insecurity, health care and environmental disaster relief.
